How To Measure Your SEG Frame
In order for a replacement Silicone Edge Graphic (SEG) panel to fit properly, it is very important to provide us with accurate measurements. You can download a PDF of this measuring guide here.
You will need to provide us with the following:
- Exact edge to edge W x H measurements of the live/open area (in inches)
- Exact dimensions of the silicone beading OR frame channel/groove thickness (in millimeters)
What you'll need:
- Tape measure with both inches and millimeters
- 2nd set of hands for larger frames
#1 Measuring Your Silicone Edge Graphic (SEG) Frame
Measure from the outer interior edge of the channel to the opposite outer interior edge channel. *Note: Be sure to push the tip of the tape measure fully against outer interior edge of the channel/groove.
Edge to edge, this frame's live/open area measures 11 3/4" wide. Repeat process for the height.
#2 Measuring Bead Thickness or Channel/Groove/Track
The frame channel is the groove or "track" around the perimeter of the frame and is where the silicone beading is inserted. The thickness of the channel often varies depending on the Silicone Edge Graphic (SEG) frame manufacturer so we will need to get the exact dimensions so that your SEG panel will fit correctly.
You will need to provide us with one of the following options:
- Preferred: Exact dimensions of the silicone beading in millimeters OR
- Exact dimension of the channel thickness in millimeters
Measuring the bead thickness:
Use the millimeter side of the tape measure to measure the width and depth of the silicone beading. This is the most precise and preferred method. The photo below is showing a 3mm x 11mm beading.
Measuring the channel:
Pull a section of the graphic from the frame to access the frame channel. Use the millimeter side of the tape measure held straight across the channel at any point. The photo below is showing a 3mm channel.
**Please DO NOT provide measurements of existing graphics as this often results in sizing issues. We have refined our process to produce perfectly-sized graphic replacements for your existing SEG frames. This does require the measurements of the physical frame and bead thickness or channel as described above.
